Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his parents and a commitment to his community. First of all, he was brought up by Lucious and Jessie Selmon, on the farm close to Eufala within Oklahoma as the eldest of the nine children they had. Two football. He is one of three brothers who participated in the football team of Oklahoma. The three brothers were all All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for the entire nation. In three years, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 with Roy being the starting player. The team also took home two national championships. He received a third scholarship in 1975, and was selected as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon received a degree in Education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer time per week throughout his time in college. After college, he moved to Tampa and played for nine years with Tampa's Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro 3 times. He then began his professional career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. The Junior Chamber of Commerce honored his name in 1982, as among the top 10 youngsters of the United States. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He captained his college team in 1975. In 1993, Roy was a part of the University of South Florida's athletic department as Director of Athletics as an associate. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. In 1989 The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation awarded its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. The presentation was made by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
