Dolly-Parton
Dolly Parton escaped the struggles that shaped her life at an early age thanks to her inventive and innovative imagination. Her songs were written before she could write or read. The first time she picked up a guitar was when she was just 8 years old and started performing on the Knoxville Tenn radio station at age 11. The same year she released her first record on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. Her name was made on the local circuit while at high school, but always dreamed of having a bigger stage. She moved to Nashville shortly after her graduation in 1964. Dumb Blonde, Something Fishy and Dumb Blonde both charted on Monument Records in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time was searching for a female singer on his show. Parton signed with RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She took on the role in 1967. However she left Wagoner's show in 1974, as her own releases such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. Parton recorded I Will Always Love You to Wagoner following their split. It reached number one. In 1974, Parton's song I Will Always Love You peaked at No.
