Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist, is also an author. She founded The Huffington Post, is the CEO and founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington has worked as a TV host, journalist as well as a philanthropist, author and journalist for over ten years. She also is the owner of The Huffington Post, an independent, liberal online newsmagazine. Originally from Greece she relocated to England when she was sixteen and then was able to graduate from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. At 21 she became head of the famous debate club The Cambridge Union' and was the first foreign born student in the history of Cambridge University to be elected. The success of her columnist of the conservative side was confirmed after she completed her studies. When the Huffington Post was launched The Huffington Post a few year later, she established an online voice portal that offered critiques of the political situation. The fame she gained enabled her to get a variety of celebrities to contribute their opinion on current events, as well as politics and culture. Arianna first gained notoriety when she ran in California's recall vote, to succeed Governor Davis. She also headed an Detroit energy-efficient vehicle project. Forbes listed her as the top woman in media in 2009. She ranked 12th on the listing. The Guardian also included her on the top 100 list of media for 2009. AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post, and she was named president of the media company. It included a variety of AOL properties of the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. Her parents were Elli as well as Konstantinos Stasinopoulos. They were a management consultant and journalist. They were very close to her father, but it was the relationship she had with her mother that has shaped her. At an early age, she displayed leadership qualities which are still widely admired. She moved to England at 16 to continue her education and was enrolled into Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined the Cambridge Union, a college debate group. As the third woman president and the first foreigner she held the position of head of the Cambridge Union. She graduated in 1972 with an MA in Economics. After graduation, she began working as a columnist critic and a television host. She was on the show with Bernard Levin on an edition Face the music, and she began to write her own books with his assistance.
